In the health interests of visitors & ourselves we are currently ON HOLD for on-site pottery activities. We are hoping to be able re-open in some form for POTTERY CLASSES during EARLY AUGUST (we will review this in-line with Government Guidance). In the meantime, we have TAKE AWAY POTTERY PAINTING KITS available for overnight hire & our POTTERY GALLERY/SHOP can be booked for private (no pressure to buy) browsing.
Don’t Get Lost!
Hot Pot Pottery is well sign-posted at The House of Bread in the village of Christchurch, Forest of Dean, GL16 7NS.
Local directions – from Forest Holidays and Bracelands Campsite: 10-15 min walk. Follow the track uphill past The Retreat (on your right) at Forest Holiday Lodges. Once at the T-junction at the top, turn left (our sign in front of you will point the way) and down past the Christchurch Church (on your right). You will then see our signs directing you down Coopers Road and into our courtyard parking round the back of The House of Bread. The tea-room and gallery are the green door on your left as you come into the courtyard and the pottery studio is at the top end of our courtyard on the left.
Local directions – from Coleford: From the traffic lights in the centre of Coleford head towards Monmouth on the Staunton Road. Turn right following signs for Berry Hill and Symonds Yat. Go straight over the A4136 Monmouth Road. Past the left turn to Forest Holidays Lodges/Bracelands Campsite and another to Symonds Yat East, past Christchurch Church (on your right) and we are just a little further on your right.
From Bristol, South West and Southern England: take the M4 west towards South Wales. Take the M48 for Chepstow and go over the Old Severn Bridge (the M48). Once over the bridge, take the left turn to Chepstow and follow the signs for the M48 Gloucester. Go through the traffic lights (Tesco on your right) and over the river. Follow the A48 for approximately 1/2 a mile and take the left turn sign posted Forest of Dean, Tutshill and Coleford (B4228). Follow this all the way to Coleford. Once in Coleford follow the directions above.
From South Wales: either head to Chepstow and follow the directions above or head up the A40 or A466 to Monmouth and take the A4136 (right) up to the Forest of Dean (you can’t turn right off the A40 so you will need to go to the next roundabout and come back to go left over the River Wye and up the hill signpoasted A4136 to Gloucester). Go through Staunton and through the traffic lights with the right turn to Coleford, come to the Pike House junction and turn left signposted Symonds Yat East and Ross-on-Wye. Past the left turn to the campsites and another to Symonds Yat East, past Christchurch Church (on your right) and we are just a little further on your right.
From Mid and North Wales. Hereford etc: Head for Abergavenny or Ross-on-Wye and take the A40 to Monmouth and follow the instructions above.
From Gloucester and the M5: take the A40 towards Ross-on-Wye (great farm shop at Over) and take a left (A4136 to Monmouth) at Huntley (Petrol Station and Forest Products on corner). Follow this through the lights at Cinderford and through Brierley until you come to Five Acres (car garage on your left and traffic lights). Turn right and drive through Berry Hill village until you reach a cross roads, turn right and this is Christchurch. Ignore the left turn to Symonds Yat East, go past Christchurch Church (on your right) and Hot Pot Pottery is just a little further on your right.
Parking. Once you have seen the Hot Pot Pottery or House of Bread signs, our parking is in our courtyard round the back. Turn right down Coopers Road just before The House of Bread and (sharp) left round the end of our outbuilding (the tea-room and gallery) into our courtyard. The tea-room and gallery are the green door on the left as you enter the courtyard and the pottery studio is further up on the left.
