At Hot Pot Pottery we are keen to work with charities and organisations to bring their members the benefits of creative clay workshops. We have seen the positive affects from talking while working with clay and how new relationships can be formed through creative group activity.
MindSCAPE clay workshops
In 2014 we were a delivery partner on MindSCAPE, an innovative project from Wye Valley AONB and administered by ArtSpace Cinderford, to reconnect those living with or caring for someone with dementia with their natural surroundings (for more information on the MindSCAPE project – click here).
We designed 2 specific workshops which both started with group discussion about the local woods and then lead to translation of ideas on to clay tiles and pinch pots. The finished pieces can be seen in the images on this page.
Hannah Elton-Wall of ArtSpace Cinderford said of the workshops: ‘The sessions were fantastic. The tea-room and gallery space is warm and welcoming and the group enjoyed discussing their thoughts and feelings about the Forest of Dean and managed to make some beautiful items, skillfully supported by Katie. We have a fantastic lunch and superb home-made cakes and sandwiches. We will return and very much look forward to seeing our pieces fired and glazed.’
