Wheel Throwing Workshops

In response to popular demand, alongside our 3 technique pottery trial classes we are also developing some Wheel Throwing Workshops for 2020 for those who want to focus on wheel throwing only! Watch this space for future dates!

These will be a whole day throwing and then decorating pots with slip and will include lunch and refreshments and your own wheel for the day.

NB: Suitable for complete beginners. Not suitable for younger children. Small class size (4 maximum), individual attention.

Proposed Workshop Schedule

10.00-10.30 – arrive, tea/coffee, introduction to the day and introductory throwing demonstration

10.30-12.30 – preparing clay, throwing with lots of guidance, encouragement and help

12.30-1.30 – home-made lunch with tea/coffee (relax and take in what you have learnt)

1.30-3.00 – continue throwing on the wheel with help and encouragement

3.00-3.30 – wheel & studio clean down

3.30 – 4.30 – drying pots and decorating with slip (coloured liquid clay) ready for firing & glazing (pots to glaze studio)


This one day workshop, including tea/coffee, homemade lunch, cake, clay, own wheel for the day, slip decorating, the ability to decorate and leave up to 8 pots from the day & glazing & firing of pots will cost: £137.00 (per person).

NB: Delivery will cost £17.00 if collection is not possible once pots are glazed & fired.

In terms of payment, we prefer cash if possible on the day as we are no longer allowed to share the cost of providing card payment facilities with customers. We hope you understand.

From our perspective well-behaved dogs are welcome in our studio but other people in the class must also be happy to have dogs with them so please do ask if you are bringing your dog.
