Useful Information We Often Get Asked About

If the answer you are looking for is not here please do Contact Us.

  1. I have never done pottery – will your classes be OK for me?
    • Yes, all our classes are suitable for any level of experience.
  2. What should I wear?
    • Pottery is a bit messy, and while it all washes out, maybe don’t wear your best clothes. We provide all aprons, towels and handwashing facilities. Do note that long nails, chunky jewellery and long untied back hair can impede your enjoyment and/or mark your pottery and clay.
  3. Are you dog friendly?
    • Yes dogs are welcome. But our studio is not huge and not everyone likes dogs so please talk to us if you want to bring your pooch so we can make sure all are happy and there is enough space for all! Also, for your part, particularly if you are doing a longer class, please bring a dog bed and any food/snacks to keep your dog comfy and contented while you are doing your pottery.
  4. How Will I Know What To Do?
    • Our class sizes are small and your teacher has many years of pottery teaching experience. You are in good hands! We start every class/activity with a full demonstration of the techniques you are going to try and a description of the kit and how to safely use it.
    • We also take you to see our glazing and firing room to see what goes on after your class/activity and (in the case of making classes) to our pottery display area to see examples of what you might be making in the class. As class/activities progresses you will gain confidence and we will be on hand at all times with tailored help and advice. You will be fully supported in what you are doing throughout the class so you can just relax and enjoy yourself!
    • If you want to take a look before your class we have recorded  two on-line demo videos: An Introduction to Wheel Throwing and Pinch Pots and Tiles. These are particularly good for throwing on the wheel as it is a lot to take in on the day.
  5. Can I book and pay on-line in advance?
    • Yes, we have an on-line booking system – CLICK HERE to take a look.
  6. How do I pay for things on the day/do you accept card?
    • For purchases while you are here such as pottery painting blanks, pottery purchases and deciding to go for delivery rather than collection we have a card machine to take card payments or can accept cash.
  7. Do you have free Wi-Fi?
    • Yes of course and we can give you the log in details while you are here.
  8. When will my pottery be ready and do I need delivery?
    • Generally we fire every 5-6 weeks on our making classes and within a day or two on our pottery painting sessions. If you are local you can collect. If you are not local or a firing is not due while you are here then we will need to arrange a fragile courier delivery of your pottery. This is £20 (inc. packing) for all your/your groups’ pottery to one mainland UK address. If you need more than one delivery it is £20 per extra address.
  9. Do you take children?
    • Yes our Pottery Trial Class is suitable for children of 6 years and upwards and our Pottery Painting is suitable for any age. With our pottery trial class if you have children younger than 6 who you want to take part we can either include them at your table and give them some clay to work with and charge accordingly or, if they are really young then obviously you can bring a pram in and/or we do have some high chairs. On our longer classes children are welcome but you need to consider your child’s ability to concentrate over the period of the class you have booked and how much they will enjoy it.
  10. Are you wheel chair friendly?
    • During our renovation and designing our classes & studio, we have tried to be an inclusive as possible, however due to the nature of the wheels, our classes which include wheel throwing classes are not wheelchair user accessible.
That said, our studio layout and toilet facilities are designed to ensure a safe experience for those with physical limitations or audio or sight impairment. Please visit our Accessibility Statement page for more full information on our accessibility.
  11. Can I bring someone with me who doesn’t want to take part in the class/activity?
    • Our studio is not huge so please ask about observers and helpers when booking and do note that all minors must be accompanied either by a paying adult or non-paying adult helper.
