Exciting News!

Hot Pot Pottery is ON THE MOVE (just down the road).

HOWEVER: we will be CLOSED for classes and activities from Fri 28th Jan 2022 until we RE-OPEN later in the season at our new studio.

We have left the information below to give you an idea what we were offering and will update our website with our regular and lots of new activities and classes when we are ready to re-open! See you soon!

Learn A New Skill With an 8 Week Pottery Course

As well as our POTTERY TRIAL CLASSES & ONE DAY WHEEL THROWING WORKSHOPS, we also run longer pottery courses which go into more depth and cover a wider range of pottery techniques. Usually on a Monday afternoon or evening (2-4pm or 6-8pm).

Due to Covid-19 & social distancing it is difficult to offer dip glazing as this works best working collaboratively in teams but we have managed to adapt most pottery making and include some decorating techniques to be low risk with regard to Covid-19.

Cosy & Well Spaced Work Areas

NB: Min. numbers = 4, max. = 8.

What Our Longer Courses Cover

Autumn 2019 8 week pottery class
  • pinch pots
  • coiling
  • slab work for tiles and constructing 3D shapes
  • using moulds
  • attaching handles
  • extruding
  • throwing on the wheel
  • decorating with slip (coloured liquid clay) & paint on-glazes
Fabulous Creations!

What Should I Wear?

NOT your best clothes, clay is messy but does wash out! We provide aprons (although you might want to bring your own), towels and hand-wash facilities.

We advise taking off large rings and bracelets, trying long hair back and rolling up sleeves. Also, long fingernails are not helpful to you when working with clay!

How To Know What To Do!

All our classes are great fun and we provide full demos and help and advice throughout each class.

However, before you start the course there are two on-line videos it is worth watching as our in-class demos are a little more difficult to see at the moment due to social distancing. There are: AN INTRODUCTION TO WHEEL THROWING and PINCH POTS & TILES.

At The End Of The Course

Once decorated pieces have been clear glazed and fired for you at the end of the course we will have an evening display of pots which we will admire with a few drinks and nibbles.

Class Costs & Payment

Our 8 week courses cost £290.00 which includes all teaching, materials, kit, firing, refreshments and chat. Payment will be required on-line into our account in advance.
