– Full Day Wheel Throwing Workshops

A Full Day Throwing On The Wheel

Our full day wheel throwing workshops are for those who want to really immerse themselves in how to throw pots on the wheel.

Our class size is small (max. 6 people, min. 2 people) and the day includes a home cooked 2 course lunch & refreshments (hot/cold drinks) throughout.

We spend most of the time throwing but we take time for lunch and later on to dry your favourite 6 pots to ‘leather-hard’ so you can decorate them with coloured slip (liquid clay) before leaving them with us for glazing and firing.

Our throwing workshops are suitable for complete beginners or those who have thrown before, however, they are not particularly suitable for younger children due to the length of the day.

How Do I Know What To Do?

Our class size is small and your teacher has many years experience teaching. You are in good hands!

We start each class with a full demonstration of throwing followed by lots of personal help, supervision and advice during the day. You will be fully supported throughout the day.

Even though you may not feel like it when you arrive, by the time the afternoon session starts you will be ‘in the flow’ and starting to experiment with different weight of clay & shapes on the wheel (a bit taller a bit wider etc).

If you want to take a look before the class, we have recorded a useful on-line video: An Introduction to Wheel Throwing which you may find helpful as it is a lot to take in on the day.

Our Studio & Facilities

Our studio is light and airy and we have 6 wheels, so you will have your own wheel and workspace for the day (no sharing!).

We provide everything you need for your workshop including all throwing, drying and decorating kit, aprons, hand washing facilities & towels.

Price

Our one day wheel throwing workshops cost £177.00 per person which includes: teaching, kit, facilities, lunch, refreshments and leaving up to 6 pots each for glazing and firing.

Extra pottery pieces can be left for glazing and firing at a cost of £3.00-£5.00 per piece (depending on size).

Collection/Delivery of your Finished Pottery

We fire about every 5-6 weeks (when our kiln is full). Pottery must be dry before it can go in the kiln which can take 4-5 days (depending on the weather) and our biscuit and glaze firings themselves also take about 4-5 days.

If you live locally or if a firing is due while you are still in the area you can come and collect your pottery when it is ready.

If a firing is not due while you are still here then you will need delivery which is £18.00 which covers all your/your groups’ pottery to one mainland UK address. If you need delivery to more than one address it is £18.00 per extra delivery.

If you are booking on-line you need to book the ‘ticket including delivery’ option for the number of separate deliveries you require. If you only need one delivery you only need to include delivery on one ticket.
