– 1 Day Wheel Throwing Workshops

A Full Day Throwing On The Wheel

Our one day wheel throwing workshops are for those who want to really immerse themselves in how to throw pots on the wheel.

Our class size is small (max. 6 people, min. 3 people) and the day includes a home cooked 2 course lunch & refreshments throughout.

We spend most of the time throwing but we take time for lunch and later on to dry your favourite 6 pots to ‘leather-hard’ so you can decorate them with coloured slip (liquid clay) before leaving them with us for glazing and firing.

Our throwing workshops are suitable for complete beginners or those who have thrown before, however, they are not particularly suitable for younger children due to the length of the day.

How Do I Know What To Do?

Our class size is small and your teacher has many years experience teaching. You are in good hands!

We start each class with a full demonstration of throwing followed by lots of personal help. supervision and advice during the day. You will be fully supported throughout the day.

Even though you may not feel like it when you arrive, by the time the afternoon session starts you will be ‘in the flow’ and starting to experiment with different shapes on the wheel (a bit taller a bit wider etc).

If you want to take a look before the class, we have recorded a useful on-line video: An Introduction to Wheel Throwing which you may find helpful as it is a lot to take in on the day.

Our Studio & Facilities

Our studio is light and airy and we have 6 wheels, so you will have your own wheel and workspace for the day (no sharing!).

We provide everything you need for your workshop including all throwing, drying and decorating kit, aprons, hand washing facilities & towels.

Price, Booking & Payment

Our one day wheel throwing workshops cost £160.00 per person which includes: teaching, kit, facilities, lunch, refreshments and leaving up to 6 pots for glazing and firing.

Extra pottery pieces can be left for glazing and firing at a cost of £3.00-£5.00 per piece (depending on size).

For more information or to book, please Contact Us.

Please note: Advance booking of at least 48 hours is required to ensure we can get the clay ready, the studio set up for the class and can buy and prepare food.

Please also advise us of any food allergies/intolerances at time of booking.

Generally payment for workshops will be in advance and we can provide you with our account details to pay into. In the near future we hope to be able to provide on-line booking & payment.

Cash or card payment on the day is fine for extras such as leaving extra pots for glazing and firing, pottery purchases or decisions to go for delivery rather than collection.

Collection/Delivery

We fire about every 5-6 weeks (when our kiln will be full). If you live locally or if a firing is due while you are here you can come and collect your pots when they are ready.

If courier delivery is required it is £20.00 for a box of pots on a fragile delivery to one mainland UK address. If you are a group, this is a shared cost.

Cancellation/No Show

We understand that plans can change and things can go wrong so please, before booking with us, check out our Cancellation/No Show Policy and make sure you are happy with that.

To answer many questions we get asked a lot we have put together a FAQs page. But if we haven’t answered what you want to know on that page then please do Contact Us.
