Pottery & Food Experiences
Pottery & Food Experiences
Come and spend time with us (10am-2.00pm) experiencing pottery making, painting & home-made food all based around a theme.
Our class sizes are small (10 people max. 2 people min.) so you will get lots of personal help and advice.
Refreshments (hot/cold drinks) are included alongside afternoon tea/pizza/pasta either served on our patio (weather permitting) or in the studio.
Our Themed Pottery Experiences are suitable for complete beginners or those who have thrown before, however, they are not particularly suitable for younger children due to the length of the class.
Pottery & Afternoon Tea Experience
Our Afternoon Tea themed experience will feature attempting throwing jugs and/or mugs on the wheel and painting a choice of pre-made afternoon tea related pottery such as mugs, tea cups & saucers or tea pots all accompanied by a delicious home-baked, freshly prepared afternoon tea & refreshments (hot/cold drinks).
Pottery & Pizza Experience
Our Pizza themed experience will feature attempting plate making on the wheel and painting pre-made pottery pizza plates accompanied by home-made pizza with the opportunity to choose your own pizza toppings (with many home grown ingredients) & refreshments (hot/cold drinks).
Pottery & Pasta Experience
Our Pasta themed experience will feature attempting throwing bowls on the wheel, painting pre-made pottery pasta bowls or plates all accompanied by a home-made pasta lunch (with many home-grown ingredients) & refreshments (hot/cold drinks).
What To Expect On The Day
For our pottery & food experiences you will work in pairs sharing a work area and wheel. If you book on your own we may well team you up with another person for the day.
10.00-10.30 – arrive, throwing & pottery painting demonstration & a cuppa!
10.30-11.45 – one person throwing on the wheel while the other is painting pottery
11.45-1.00 – swap over with one person throwing on the wheel while the other is painting pottery
1.00-1.15 – wheel & studio clean down & choose glaze options on made pottery
1.15-2.00 – enjoy a home-made afternoon tea/pasta dish/pizza
Our Studio & Facilities
Our studio is light and airy and we have enough wheels for you to have your a wheel and workspace shared between two for the day. While one is throwing on the wheel the other will be pottery painting and vice versa so no waiting for anyone else to finish with the wheel. If you are booking on your own we may team you up with another person to share a workspace.
We provide everything you need for your experience day including all throwing kit, decorating kit, aprons, hand washing facilities & towels.
Prices
Our pottery & food experiences are £89.00 per person and this includes: teaching, kit, facilities, refreshments (hot/cold drinks), food and leaving up to a total of 4 made and painted pieces each with us for glazing and firing.
Extra made pottery pieces can be left for glazing and firing at a cost of £3.00-£5.00 per piece (depending on size). Or extra pottery painting pieces can be added at their listed value.
Collection/Delivery Of Your Finished Pottery
We fire made pottery about every 5-6 weeks (when our kiln is full). Made pottery must be dry before it can go in the kiln which can take 4-5 days (depending on the weather) and our biscuit an glaze firings also take about 4-5 days.
We fire our pottery painting within a few days of your class and it is an overnight firing but this then may have to wait until any made pottery is also glazed and fired.
If you live locally or both firings will be completed while you are still in the area you can come and collect your pottery when it is ready.
If a firing is not due while you are still here then you will need delivery which is £18.00 which covers all your/your groups’ pottery to one mainland UK address. If you need delivery to more than one address it is £18.00 per extra delivery.
If you are booking on-line you need to book the ‘ticket including delivery’ option for the number of separate deliveries you require. If you only need one delivery you only need to include delivery on one ticket.
