– 3 Day Weekend Pottery Retreats

Relax And Rejuvenate With Pottery

A lovely relaxing 3 day, 2 night pottery retreat with optional B&B accommodation at our lovely farmhouse (or elsewhere if you prefer) focusing on pottery and relaxation where you will get to immerse yourself in pottery and our beautiful country surroundings.

Small group size – max. 6 people. min. 2 people.

Our Retreats are suitable for complete beginners or those who have done pottery before, however, they are not particularly suitable for younger children due to the focus and length of classes.

What To Expect

Day 1 (Friday) – arrive around 1.30pm, introductions, tour of the pottery and our farmhouse and where you will be sleeping (if you are staying with us). Time to take in your surroundings & biscuits & a cuppa! Afternoon spent in the pottery looking at pinch pots, coils and tiles/slab pots and then an early evening walk (earlier on the winter Retreat) with our dogs to the famous Symonds Yat look-out & views of the River Wye for photos and inspiration. Collect woodland items to decorate pottery and do some ‘Forest Bathing’. Followed by a home-cooked hearty evening meal at our farmhouse – maybe outside for BBQ or pizza if the weather is on our side!

Day 2 (Saturday) – breakfast at the farmhouse (if you are staying with us) followed by a whole day in the pottery studio learning and perfecting throwing on the wheel (with your own wheel – no sharing) and using pottery moulds and the extruder to make pots. Lunch at the farmhouse and early evening walk to a local country pub (lift available for those who don’t want to walk & on the winter Retreat) and meal out (pub meal not included in the price).

Day 3 (Sunday) – breakfast at the farmhouse (if you are staying with us). Into the pottery studio to tidy, refine & add handles to your pottery. Maybe try decorating with slip (including scraffitto) & add handles. Maybe revisit the pottery techniques you have enjoyed the most or want to practice more before you leave. A buffet lunch at the farmhouse and back to the studio for final finishing and decisions about glazing. Depart around 3.30pm.

Collection/Delivery Of Your Finished Pottery

We fire made pottery about every 5-6 weeks (when our kiln is full). Made pottery must be dry before it can go in the kiln which can take 4-5 days (depending on the weather) and our biscuit and glaze firings also take about 4-5 days.

If a firing is not due while you are still in the area you will need delivery which is £18.00 which covers all your/your groups’ pottery to one mainland UK address. If you need delivery to more than one address it is £18.00 per extra delivery.

If you are booking on-line you need to book the ‘ticket including delivery’ option for the number of separate delivery addresses you require.
