Raku Workshops – coming soon!

The Dramatic Raku Experience

Visit us twice in a week to create your pots using raku clay either on the wheel or hand-built and leave them with us for biscuit firing and then return later in the week for glazing, some food with us and the dramatic spectacle of raku firing and its unpredictable but often beautiful results.

Small groups – 6 people max. 3 min.

Other refreshments also included throughout the day and lunch (featuring many home-grown ingredients) either served on our patio (weather permitting) or inside at our farmhouse table.

How Will I Know What To Do?

Our class sizes are small and your teacher has many years of pottery teaching experience. You are in good hands!

We start every class with a full demonstration of the making and painting techniques you are going to try and a description of the kit and how to safely use it.

You will be fully supported in what you are doing throughout the classes so you can just relax and enjoy yourself!

If you want to take a look before your class we have recorded  an on-line demo video: An Introduction to Wheel Throwing. This could be helpful if you are planning on throwing on the wheel as it is a lot to take in on the day!

Our Studio & Facilities

Our studio is light and airy and we have 6 wheels and workspaces so there is lots of room to spread out. We also have a large outside area for firing in so plenty of space.

We provide everything you need for your experience including all throwing/making kit, decorating kit, aprons, hand washing facilities & towels.

Health & Safety

Raku firing is unpredictable and requires opening kilns and moving pots at very high temperatures, Therefore visitors are invited only to watch the firing part of the experience rather than help or take part.

Raku firing is weather dependent as it happens outside. Therefore we will only be offering these classes during the summer and while we will be taking advance bookings, these may need to be cancelled and refunded or altered to a different class type with your agreement, should the weather prevent firing.

Price, Booking & Payment

Our 2 days Raku experience will be £TBC per person which includes: teaching, kit, facilities, refreshments, food and glazing and firing up to 3 pots

Extra made pottery pieces can be included in a firing (depending on the overall number of pots for firing) at a cost of £5.00-£7.00 per piece (depending on size).

For more information or to book, please Contact Us.

Please note: Advance booking of at least 48 hours is required to ensure we can get the clay ready, the studio, clay, kit & kiln set up for the classes and can buy and prepare food.

Please also advise us of any food allergies/intolerances at time of booking.

Generally payment will be in advance and we can provide you with our account details to pay into. In the near future we hope to be able to provide on-line booking & payment.

Cash or card payment on the day is fine for extras such as leaving extra made pots for glazing and firing, pottery purchases or decisions to go for delivery rather than collection.

Cancellation/No Show

We understand that plans can change and things can go wrong so please, before booking with us, check out our Cancellation/No Show Policy and make sure you are happy with that.
